Semester GPA Calculator

For each course, multiply credit hours by the grade points for the letter grade on the US 4.0 scale to get quality points. Sum the quality points across the term, divide by the total credit hours, and round to two decimals. Example: a 4-credit A (4.0) and a 3-credit B+ (3.3) gives (4 x 4.0 + 3 x 3.3) / 7 = 25.9 / 7 = 3.70. The credit-hour weight is why a 4-credit A pulls harder on your semester GPA than a 1-credit A.

It accepts A+ through F and maps A+ and A to 4.0. Pass/fail, withdrawal, incomplete, and audit options are not available in this calculator. Leave them out only when your institution excludes them from GPA; a failing or withdrawal-fail mark may be treated differently.

This calculator labels 3.9+ as President's List, 3.5+ as Dean's List, 2.0+ as good standing, and lower results as a warning. Those are internal reference bands. Your institution may use different GPA thresholds, credit minimums, grade restrictions, or no President's List at all.
