dBm is power in decibels relative to 1 milliwatt. Watts come from P(W) = 10^((dBm - 30) / 10), and dBm comes back from dBm = 10 x log10(P in watts) + 30. The 30 offset is why 30 dBm equals exactly 1 watt.

What is dBm?
dBm is power measured in decibels relative to 1 milliwatt (mW). It is a logarithmic scale, so every 10 dBm step multiplies power by 10 and every 3 dBm step roughly doubles it. By definition, 0 dBm equals 1 mW and 30 dBm equals 1 watt.
How do you convert dBm to watts?
Use P(W) = 10^((dBm - 30) / 10). Subtract 30 from the dBm value, divide by 10, then raise 10 to that power. For example, 20 dBm gives 10^((20 - 30) / 10) = 10^-1 = 0.1 watt, which is 100 milliwatts.

How do you convert watts back to dBm?

What is the difference between dBm and dBW?
