US to EU Clothing Size Converter

Pick the garment that matches what you are buying, then enter your US size. For women's tops, dresses, and pants the EU size is the US size plus 32 (US 8 becomes EU 40). For men's shirts the EU size is your chest in inches plus 10 (a 40 inch chest is EU 50), and for men's trousers it is your waist in inches plus 16 (a 32 inch waist is EU 48).

Men's sizes are based on body measurements in inches. For tops you enter your chest in inches, and the tool returns the EU size plus a letter size (S, M, L, and so on) using the standard chest ranges. For pants you enter your waist in inches. In both cases the US and UK labels equal the inch measurement, so only the EU number changes.

EU sizing covers many countries that each round and label a little differently, and every brand cuts its garments to its own block. Italian and French labels in particular often run one to two sizes smaller than the general chart. Treat the result as a starting point and check the brand's own size chart when you are between sizes.

This converter uses one general women's clothing chart (EU = US + 32) for both tops and pants so the results stay consistent. Some denim brands instead label jeans by waist in inches or use an EU number one step lower than the general chart. If your jeans are tagged by waist size, compare that inch figure to the brand's chart rather than the numeric US size.

For women's clothing the UK size is the US size plus 4 (US 8 is UK 12), while the EU size is the US size plus 32. For menswear the UK and US labels are the same because both use the chest or waist measurement in inches, and only the EU number is offset. The conversions follow widely published cross-reference charts, but clothing sizing is not standardized the way shoe sizing nearly is. Fit varies with brand, cut, fabric stretch, and how a garment is meant to sit. Use the EU and UK numbers as a close reference, and rely on actual measurements or a brand chart for the best fit.
